Sunshine Sunday

I think yesterday really did manage to completely blow away those winter blues. The blast of sunshine coming through the windows on a sunday morning accompanied by a fresh red grapefruit and a fragrant cup of tea surrounded by freshly blossomed daffodils… Bliss.
   Snails enjoying the sunshine

The past few months have been some of the worst for weather, and the South West has taken a beating. So this one off weekend really brightened up the Cornish coastline.

A walk to Watergate Bay via the coastal path in the sunshine, was followed by the first clotted cream ice cream of the year on the beach, which was deeeelicious! Whilst soaking up some of those rarely seen rays we watched some holiday makers attempt to surf some of the pretty sizeable waves. After a good hour on the beach our bellies started to rumble and so we attempted to find a table at the shack, luckily a couple were just leaving, so we pounced on the space with a beautiful view overlooking the swell and golden sands. This view, accompanied by some crispy calamari and a glass of Cornish Gold cider really did make me realise how much I do love Cornwall.

The walk back

After our delicious lunch, we left the table for some newcomers to enjoy the same view and left for our walk back home, just over the cliff. I love living right in the centre of all the great spots of Newquay.

The afternoon was followed by a little rugby watching, reading and chatting on the balcony, whilst enjoying the rarity of the warm sunshine on my shoulders. Eventually we pulled on our wetsuits and made way to a smaller spot for a cheeky lil’ surf in the large swell. We could see the Cribbar was working pretty well all the way from Watergate, so decided to head up the coast to a quieter spot that was working pretty damn well.
We ended the day with possibly the best sunset of the year. This weekend has seriously got me ready for the summer, I'm already planning adventures and festivals for the summer ahead. It can't come soon enough.

The most beautiful sunset I’ve seen for a long while
