Sri Lanka-Day One- Colombo Airport to Kandy

After an 11 hour flight, I eventually arrived in Colombo, Sri Lanka at 4:30am on 20th October. I walked out of the gates, cleared immigration, picked up my backpack and surfboard straight into my first taste of Sri Lanka.

FAVOURITE BREAKFAST SMOOTHIE

A September favourite of mine is this breakfast smoothie… a deliciously simple way to pump your body full of ENERGY and GOODNESS in order to deal with anything the day ahead may throw at you!

Beach Wanderings

At the moment I am car-less! I have no vehicle to get around, to even get out of Newquay! The past few weeks have been a bit of a pain. Cornwall certainly doesn’t have the best public transport, which makes it hard to get from A to B. However, now being vehicle-less, it has prompted me to hop on my bike ( a £20 bargain from a charity shop with a basket on the front) and attempt to explore as much as possible, something I wouldn’t have done with a car. On my adventure days I have found secret trails and pathways and even better, shortcuts to the beach!

September Favourites #1

September has become my HEALTHY month. I always strive to be as healthy as possible, and in CORNWALL, when you spend most of your time outdoors and in the OCEAN  it's not too difficult. But these recipes make staying healthy just that little bit easier... and delicious!

September Surf

September is by far my favourite month of the year in Cornwall, not just because it’s my birthday month but because this is when we usually have our last little treat of summer weather and this year hasn’t disappointed. We’ve been blessed with temperatures soaring into the twenties, sunshine shining on throughout the day, and even though the sun has been setting that little bit earlier every night, the sunsets we’ve been graced with have all but made up for it!

New Adventures are Awaiting

I did a road trip through Spain, France and Portugal with Matty in 2012 and I never wrote about it. Seems a bit of a shame not to have documented our road trip as we were cruising along the rainy plains of Northern Spain, up to the South of France not before tasting the tapas of San Sebastian, then back down, right across to the North-West of Spain, sampling tapas and treats all the way. Then down along the coast of Portugal where the smell of sardines and salted fish trace your every move, bliss!

On a road trip you discover so much more than you would on just a normal holiday. You are left free to discover what you want, no limits, no ties to a single spot… unless the van breaks down, which fortunately didn’t happen the whole time we were there, winner! You can potter around for however long you want, wherever you want.

I’m writing this because the van we did the trip in… this beauty
